West Coast Vibrations “An Ode to Souls” – Rhettmatic

Produced by: DJ Rhettmatic for Beat Junkie Sound.

This is my first official music video ever as an artist. Usually it’s either for my crews The Beat Junkies, The Visionaries, Cypress Junkies, or Crown Royale, but never for me as a solo artist, so this is pretty special for me. This is 1st official “single” from my new instrumental album, “Loops, Chops, Beats, & Vibes” Vol. 2, which is out right now at my Bandcamp page:

This is also a big milestone for me since today (5/10/19) is my birthday & I just turned 50 today. I have been dropping Free projects, whether mixtapes or an album, to celebrate my Birthday & as a way to say “Thank You” to everyone whoever supported me & my crew, for the past 10 years. So you know I had to go big on this one.

Backstory: I found a copy of this particular record that has been used by the legendary crew, Souls Of Mischief, during a family trip to the Philippines (my parents’ homeland) in Jan. 2019 at this club called Boogie, located in Manila. I got it for cheap….lol.

I have this certain record already in my collection but saw it again for a really cheap price, so I said “Why not?”. I’ve always wanted to flip this certain classic song but never had the chance….until I started working on my annual birthday project.

When I was almost finished with this project, I decided to make a video for this joint & reached out to my man Dj Underkut of Openformat LA. This brother has done my “Rhett Got Beats” video and has done other videos for the Turntablist community. Not only he’s an ill videographer, he’s an sick turntablist/producer, & has a dope online DJ store: I wanted to get the video to be the same vibe as “93 Til Infinity” and Underkut pretty much nailed the vibe I was looking for. Hence, here is the video.
